Help Afriversity!
Afriversity is dependent on generous sponsors and participating partners from the academic as well as the commercial world.
Afriversity sponsors and partners contribute not just funding to support students but provide educational resources,
facilities, executive placements and connections to the global business community.

How to sponsor and invest in Afriversity
The funds raised by Afriversity will be used during the first years of operations mainly on building the organisation set out above, and graduating the first cull of Afripreneurs in 2010. In addition to financial sponsoring, companies are allowed to offer up internships and placements for students to gain work experience outside Africa. Sponsors will be given the first refusal option to earn minority equity in the resulting ventures that can later be realised as companies incubated by Afriversity grow and become valuable assets.
Afriversity is offering the following sponsoring and investment packages:
Gold Corporate Sponsors - €25,000 / R275,000 per annum
This level of annual sponsoring will typically support 10 Afripreneurs concluding a foundation course plus five of
them continuing through the fast track venture phase per year. Gold sponsors are typically also providing its own
industry know-how and hands-on collaborative projects where we match up suitable Afripreneurs. These collaborative
industry projects have typically real “social impact” in areas of renewable energy, water, housing and other
infrastructure.
Investing at the Gold Level will provide your company the highest opportunity for networking and involvement with
Afriversity. Gold Corporate Sponsors will be featured in Afriversity’s extensive marketing as gold sponsor, including TV,
media and advertising to further strengthen its public image of a socially responsible organisation. Gold Sponsors will
also be invited to participate as guest lecturers as well as other promotional events with speaking opportunities.
- Recognition as Gold Level Sponsor at all events, including the display of your Company logo in a prominent position on all printed materials, event signage and PowerPoint title slides and the front page of the Afriversity web site with a hyperlink back to your Company web site
- 200 word write up on the Afriversity web site
- Press release with the announcement of your involvement with Afriversity
- Recognition at the podium at all events
- Opportunity to address all attendees at launch or graduation ceremonies
- Consideration to be on the Advisory Board (subject to committee review)
- Opportunity to provide Gift Giveaways at Afriversity Events
- Your logo in every newsletter hyperlinked to your website
The sponsor package excludes equity financing of potential ventures through incubation which is offered separately on a case by case basis. There is no limit of allotments that a corporate organisation can invest.
Silver Corporate Sponsors - €15,000 / R165,000 per annum
This level of annual sponsoring will typically support 4 Afripreneurs concluding a foundation course plus two of them
continuing through the fast track venture phase per year.
Silver sponsors will gain the same benefit as gold sponsors and will have the opportunity to participate at the same level,
but will not receive the same level of exposure marketing wise as Gold Sponsors.
Bronze Corporate Sponsors - €10,000 / R110,000 per annum
This level of annual sponsoring will typically support 2 Afripreneurs concluding a foundation course plus one of them
continuing through the fast track venture phase per year.
Bronze sponsors will gain the same benefit as silver sponsors and have the opportunity to participate at the same level,
but will not receive the same level of exposure marketing wise as gold or silver sponsors.
Individual Sponsors - €1,000 / R11,000 minimum allotment
Afriversity welcomes private sponsors and donors to participate in the programme, and welcome personal engagement where
appropriate.
Value Added Sponsors
Afriversity invites corporate sponsors who can offer value added services such as consultancy, free computer equipment,
software, communications, transport, accommodation etc.
Afriversity will mention these organisations in its web marketing materials.
Public Sponsorships
Afriversity provides the public to make small donations to Afriversity through purchases of promotional items (e.g. Nelson Mandela T-shirts) and micro-donations. However, today Afriversity is chiefly dependent on larger corporate and individual sponsors.
Media/Promotional Supplier
Media companies and agencies that donate advertising space and/or creative services valued at €1000 per annum or more to help promote Afriversity’s mission.
Event Sponsorship
Event sponsorship is the financial or in-kind support for an Afriversity organised event. An event includes a one-time occasion and sponsors may be recognised vis-à-vis anything relating to the event. Depending upon the details of the agreement, the sponsor’s name may be directly associated with the event (e.g. “title” sponsorship) and the sponsor may have a variety of temporary advertising and marketing opportunities.

Sponsor Ethics
We look for sponsors that:- demonstrate a genuine interest in a cause or the community (they show up for Afriversity events or cause-related events, for instance; or they respond to an email or phone call inviting the company to volunteer or learn more about the organisation; or they seek out a nonprofit for advice about volunteering)
- understand "partnership", and who won't try to "own" a project or event (as in, the company would not say, "you have to use our company's software at your company if we give you this financial donation)
